Accessibility Facilities
Otter Pool Barn is a spectacular, tastefully converted barn, located in the peaceful rural countryside near Ilfracombe.
This property will be assessed for National Accessibility Scheme ‘Accessibility Exceptional’ grading before opening and also aims to achieve visual and hearing impaired accessibility gradings.

The owners are pleased to be able to advise you that the inclusion of many of the accessibility adaptations has been supported by a LEADER grant.
Ceiling and mobile hoists
With six accessible bedrooms, two downstairs and four upstairs, it is anticipated that any combination of family, friends, carers and mobility requirements can be catered for. Four profiling beds are provided. Two in bedroom one (with the x-y ceiling hoist) and two in separate rooms upstairs, a mobile hoist is available if required. Visitors will need to bring their own slings to use with the hoists.
Doors
Doors throughout the property are oak and fitted to slide internally in the walls, minimising obstruction and enabling easy use, by those with limited mobility. Floors are all level, with durable, low glare, non-slip surfaces ideal for use with walking aids or wheelchairs. External doors are fitted with flush doorsills to enable easy access.
Other facilities
Consideration has also been given to other fittings, including press button showers, with rain heads and hand spray facilities, shower seats are available and taps are lever operated. Extra power sockets have been fitted throughout the property to enable easy access, regardless of bed layout and the snug lounge and bedroom lights are provided with dimmer switches. Additional floor standing lights are available throughout the house to enable lighting to be adjusted to suit visitor’s needs.
Bathrooms
Bathrooms are large and have fully level access showers. The bath in the family bathroom is suitable for use with the mobile hoist. A toilet seat raiser is available and appropriate handles are provided in all bathrooms.
Outside
Outside, accessibility has also been thoroughly catered for. The pool is suitable for use as a hydrotherapy pool. Its temperature can be set to suit needs. The linked hot tub allows access for everyone, with a removable partition to move from one part of the pool to the other (a reasonable level of mobility is required to remove/replace the partition) and a sling/chair hoist has been installed (chair provided) to enable access to those unable to get into the pool unassisted. The electrically operated cover allows single person use, as well as ensuring the pool is safely covered when not in use.
Extra needs
Local hydrotherapists and physiotherapists are available to enable you to make the most of the facilities provided and to ensure your holiday can be fully enjoyed. Provision can be made to enable delivery of specialist equipment (such as oxygen or mobility scooters) to the property in time for your arrival.
